One summer, American Nina Scott Ingram, artist in residence at a local Danish design collective, meets Danish Emilia Paulsen who is three years her junior. Emilia is an aspiring writer, taking leave from her lit studies to write a novel about her first love, Odine, an older woman who was a tenant with Emilia’s parents in their villa in A. for the duration of a spring semester seven years ago. Nina’s and Emilia’s half year long relationship becomes a creative revisit to the past for Emilia who finally manages to (re)write her history, and for Nina it becomes a lesson out in the nature of love while she captures the whole process in charcoal illustrations. Although their paths eventually divert, the imprint they leave on each other is lasting, erasing old mistakes and making way for new progress as they each move on.
